New Caledonia have not yet qualified for the Rugby World Cup, and all their matches have been against minor national Oceanian rugby teams. Their biggest win was 24-6 over Wallis and Futuna in 1966, and their biggest loss, was when Tonga beat them 58-3 in 1979. Their recent win over fellow Pacific rivals Vanuatu in Nouméa, 32-20, paved the way to their final of Oceania Cup, lost to Niue, 5-27 at 1 September 2008.
