Harlequins have lured Great Britain Rugby League and Samoan Rugby Union international Maurie Fa'asavalu back to the fifteen man game.
The 30-year-old has joined from Super League club St Helens and will arrive at Twickenham Stoop in October after recovering from shoulder surgery.
A strong ball-carrier, Fa'asavalu's form in Samoa's back row during the 2003 World Cup alerted league clubs and Saints swooped that same year.
Converting to prop forward, he qualified for Great Britain on residency grounds and was also capped by England.
"A player of Maurie's talent and ability will be a great asset to Quins," said Quins' Director of Rugby Conor O'Shea.
"I have no doubt that he will be able to make an immediate impact on returning to union.
"He will bring experience and a new dimension to our options and is exactly the type of person we want at this club."
Quins have also signed former Ireland Under-20 scrum-half David Moore from Leinster and lock Peter Browne from Newcastle.
